Treated Water Supply PipelinesUpgrade of pipeline at Blackfield, Longwood
The water main that feeds properties within Blackfield, Longwood is over 30 years old. The pipeline had deteriorated over time and needed to be replaced. Works to replace this pipeline commenced In July 2023 and was completed in September 2023. Residents were connected to a new and larger pipeline that will accommodate current and future needs.
Replacement of Blueman's Field Tank
The water storage tank at Blueman’s Field was approximately 40 years old and was installed when piped water was introduced to the Thompson’s Hill area. The tank had become fully depreciated, undersized and started to leak last year. A replacement tank was purchased that had added storage capacity and could offer additional backup storage for the area. Works to replace the tank started in early March and was completed by a small in-house team in April 2023.
Hospital Tank Replacement
The original Hospital Tanks had been in operation for some 40+ years and had deteriorated significantly, passing their operational lifespan. S.Doy Construction was contracted to remove one of these tanks and replace it with a new Galvanised Pressed Steel (GPS) one. Following a tender process, the project was well executed by the contractor, who met all the required standards and specifications. This new storage tank will support the Jamestown water infrastructure used by all residents and businesses in Jamestown for another 30 + years. In addition to this tank, the already upgraded storage tanks at Chubbs Spring and Lower Jamestown (Dillon’s Tank) will, in the long run, provide a more robust network that will make it more efficient to operate.
Replacement of pipeline on Easy Street, Ladder Hill
The water main that fed properties in Easy Street, Ladder Hill had been failing and needed to be replaced. A new water network was installed and the old system removed. This new water network provides higher flows taking into account development and future growth in the area. These works are a continuation to upgrade the whole network in Ladder Hill. Upgrade of pipelines from Pounceys to Sunnyside and Scotland to Spring Gut
The water distribution network in Kunji Field, Scotland, Sunnyside and Spring Gut was an old system and had deteriorated significantly causing leaks and bursts in the area. After a new pipeline was installed, it now provides higher flows taking into account development and future growth in the area. |
