Waste WaterThe team's commitment is:
To make a new sewer connection to the communal sewer system, the customer first pays a connection charge. If a customer requires assistance to make the connection, this will be charged at full cost of labour, transport, materials and plant if necessary. The customer owns all of the pipework from their property to the connection point and is responsible for all costs for maintaining the connection. Please note that connections to the communal sewer is only for grey and sewage water, no storm water is allowed to be connected; the customer is responsible for the disposal of their own storm water. For customers in areas where there are no communal sewers, they are responsible for their own sewer treatment. Connect St Helena Ltd can assist with blockages and emptying of sewer tanks and this will be charged at the current rate that is enforced at the time a request for assistance is made. TIP: To avoid constant blockages, these are some common causes of a blocked sewer: - flushed nappies - baby wipes - sanitary towels - newspapers. These non-soluble items block the pipes and can cause the sewage to overflow from external manhole covers or come up through someone else's toilet or other bathroom fittings. To avoid problems for all, please use the sewage system properly. It is designed to take away sewage, not as an alternative to a bin. |
